Payday 3 launches in September, here’s what you’ll need to run it
Currently, it’s uncertain which graphic settings Starbreeze aims for with its recommended specs. It’s also unknown how much storage space the game will occupy. As a point of reference, Payday 2 uses 83 GB of storage on Steam.
Starbreeze began Payday 3’s development on Unreal Engine 4, and it will debut with this engine. However, the developer has revealed plans to transition to Unreal Engine 5 post-launch, without specifying the timeline.
Payday 3 follows Payday 2, released in 2013, which itself succeeded 2011’s Payday: The Heist. The series delivers intense, crime-focused gameplay in a first-person view. The latest installment will unfold in New York, a shift from the previous setting in Washington, D.C.
Both main titles have garnered positive feedback on Steam and are priced reasonably. Those new to the series can explore it with Payday: The Heist at $14.99 and Payday 2 at $9.99.
Payday 3 is set to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Windows, and Linux on September 21. The game is available for pre-purchase on Steam, with the standard edition priced at $39.99. Higher tiers include a silver edition with a six-month season pass at $69.99 and a gold edition providing a year-long pass for $89.99.
