Payday 3: Gameplay Reveal is Coming this Summer
Starbreeze Studios, in collaboration with Prime Matter, has unveiled yet another teaser trailer for the co-op heist game, Payday 3. Intriguingly, this new teaser, despite its 21-second duration, manages to be even more cryptic than its predecessor. It features a shadowed individual saying, “alright guys, it’s a simple job,” swiftly followed by the Payday 3 logo.
While the teaser is sparse on details, it does hint at a full game reveal “this summer.” This suggests a potential showcase in one of the upcoming non-E3 summer events next month, though Starbreeze hasn’t officially confirmed this.
Additional insights surrounding the teaser have surfaced. A related Steam news post asserts Starbreeze’s commitment to a release within the year and addresses the recent communication gap about the game. It’s also confirmed that the game is powered by the Unreal Engine and retains the four main characters from its earlier iterations.
Yet, looming over Payday 3 are concerns arising from Starbreeze’s tumultuous past, especially post the ill-received launch of Overkill’s The Walking Dead. The subsequent financial quagmire led to a reconstruction filing to stave off bankruptcy, a raid on their offices by Swedish officials, and an insider trading charge against CFO Sebastian Ahlskog. Though the latter was convicted, the decision was later overturned on appeal.
Starbreeze now assures that its financial woes are behind and that Payday 3 is on the right track. From an external viewpoint, there’s little concrete evidence to cast doubts or solidify confidence regarding Payday 3 being Starbreeze’s triumphant return. Only time (perhaps a month or two) will give us a clearer picture.
